Read: Mark 10:46–52

The blind man said to Him, “My teacher, let me see again.” Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed Him on the way. Mark 10:51b–52

Jesus heals blindness—physical blindness and spiritual blindness. When familiarity blinds us to the goodness and beauty of the friends and family who are closest to us, when we are blind to our own giftedness and value, when we can no longer see a way out of seemingly intractable situations, Jesus offers us both sight and insight. Obedience to the commands and counsel of Jesus can illuminate our living. When we stop stumbling around in the dark and start clinging to Jesus, we are led into the light. How does this happen? Why does this happen? What is the theology behind Jesus’ ability to heal us? We don’t know—he just does. Somehow, through Jesus, faith and faithfulness makes us well.

Where do you need regain sight in your life?

Lord, I confess that there is much I dont understand about You and Your ways. I do not understand how You heal, how You give sight, and how You cure blindness. But You do. I am blind in so many ways. I want to follow You out of the darkness of my life into Your radiant light. I am blind…but I want to see. In Jesusname, I pray. AMEN.
