When Jesus gave a lesson on table manners, He wasn’t concerned with people putting their elbows on the table or about which fork to use for the second course or chewing with your mouth open. Jesus was concerned with humility and generosity. First, don’t think too much of yourself, otherwise you will be embarrassed. Second, be generous in your invitations to the table so that no one is left out. Simple table manners are the keys to honor in this life and to glory in the next!
How do you choose your seats, and whom do you invite to sit with you?
Lord, I need to learn better manners. I am too concerned with etiquette, and too little concerned with the fellowship around the table. Help me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN.
