Read: Psalm 1

Happy are those whose…delight is in the law of the Lord….They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. Psalm 1:1a, 2a, & 3

People who cleave to the will and way of God are like trees planted and rooted by streams of life-giving water. Those who pin the hopes of their lives on other pursuits and relationships “are like chaff that the wind drives away.”

You can tell a person of faith by their depth. There is something about them. They may bend, but they don’t ever seem to break. They remain grounded when others seem to always flit about. They do not succumb to the whims and worries of the world. They stand firm—planted and strong in the word of God. They prosper.

Are you well rooted?

Lord, I want to be grounded in You. I want your word, Your presence, and Your law to be the source of my nourishment in life. Help me to find the stream that runs to You and from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN.
