Read: Matthew 7:1–5

First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye. Matthew 7:5

We judge people all the time. We are quick to criticize. And we critique others as if we were entirely above reproach. Jesus’ teaching is clear. Don’t judge. How would we like the standards by which we evaluate others to be applied to our lives? Why not deal with our own issues, work on our own rough edges, and handle the glaring faults in our own lives before we try correcting someone else. Could Jesus’ teaching be more direct? Work on bettering ourselves—leave the judging to God.

Whom do you judge?

Lord, who made me the judge of other people? No one! You are the judge, I am not. Keep me in my place. Help me to focus on my own issues while leaving the evaluation to You. In Jesusname, I pray. AMEN.
