Jo Deen (Jody) Blaine Davis, a native of Missouri, has enjoyed a career in music education, performance, and church music. Since September 2005, Jody has been the Director of Music Ministries here at The Congregational Church of New Canaan. Before moving to Connecticut, Jody was Organist and Assistant Director of Music at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Houston. Previously, she was Professor of Music in Keyboard and Theory at San Jacinto College South, Houston for nearly twenty years. While teaching, Jody held church positions as choirmaster/organist at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church and at Central Presbyterian, Houston. In 2003, Jody travelled with her husband Ray for nearly four months in Europe and Great Britain, performing solo organ recitals in venues including St. Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh; The Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Truro; Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford; St. Paul’s Cathedral, London; St. Ludwig Kirche, Celle, Germany; Cathedral de Ste-Cecile, Albi, France; and Parish Church of San Michele in Corsanico, Italy. Jody has performed throughout theUnited States as guest recitalist for American Guild of Organists conventions, and has been the featured recitalist at the Washington National Cathedral. She holds the Bachelor and Master Degrees in Organ Performance from Eastman School of Music and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas. Jody is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, AAUW, and the American Guild of Organists.

In the summer of 2012, Jody was a presenter and clinician at the National UCC (United Church of Christ) Music Conference in Burlington, VT; she lectured on Pre-School Music, gave master classes in organ performance, and served as accompanist for the conference choirs. Her articles on the need for Pre-School Music in the church and on Hymn Playing have been published in the National UCC Musician’s newsletter. Jody currently serves as President of the UCC Musicians Association.
