We would like to provide a brief update on the transition in our leadership following Skip Masback’s departure as our senior minister and to ask for your input into the process.
The Deacons, the Trustees and the Leadership Committee are united in our belief that the church is strong and vibrant with an excellent staff and transformative programs, and we are determined to continue the momentum under the leadership of a new senior minister.
As we prepare to initiate a search committee, the Deacons and Trustees would like to ask our church community for guidance. We are therefore asking you to respond to a survey that will take about 15 minutes of your time.
In addition to asking specifically about the qualities we should be seeking in a senior minister, the survey also asks for your assessment of the contribution of the church and its programs to your spiritual growth. These questions are the same as the ones asked in the 2010 Discernment survey. Your responses will give an indication of how our community of faith has evolved since then. This will be extremely helpful to the lay leadership, the staff and the new senior minister as we move forward.
The deadline for responding to the survey is Sunday, October 6. We will then compile all of the data and report back to the congregation on the results at a special meeting on Sunday, October 20 immediately following the 9:30am service. Based on the survey and feedback received at that meeting, a job description for the permanent senior minister will be finalized and presented to the deacons and trustees for approval. The deacons and trustees will nominate members of the permanent search committee at their November 4 meetings, and the search process will begin.
